Conservation Volunteers Australia is a non-profit / non-government organisation and is Australia’s leading practical conservation organisation. They welcome more that 10,000 volunteers per year and have 24 offices across Australia.

Conservation Volunteers Australia achieves real conservation results including planting more than 1 million trees per year. Various programs like weed removal, the Yellow Crazy Ants survey program and track construction are held through out the Northern Territory during the year.

Tour Options

Cox Peninsula Marine Debris

The Cox Peninsula, located south west of Darwin, is where you and the volunteer team will be conducting marine debris surveys along a section of the coastline. All items that are collected will be categorised, weigh and disposed of. This work is part of the successful Coastcare program in order to protect marine life such as sea turtles.

Volunteers can take part in this adventure on the 4 to 8 May 2009.

Wilgi Outstation

Cobourg Peninsula is one of the most picturesque locations and is where you and the volunteer team will be working, with traditional owners, to help stabilised the erosion of a small cliff at the base of the Cobourg Peninsula and you’ll also conduct marine debris surveys.

Come and experience this beautiful coastal region of Arnhem Land with Conservation Volunteers Australia.

Volunteers can take part in this adventure on the 15 to 19 June 2009.

Yellow Crazy Ants Survey Program

They destroyed almost 30 per cent of the Christmas Island’s infamous crab population and now, the Yellow Crazy Ant, threatens to do the same on the north east peninsula of Arnhem Land.

To stop history repeating itself, the Yellow Crazy Ant eradication program gives you the chance to work with CSIRO scientists and traditional land owners, the Yolngu people, to combat these invasive critters. Do your bit for the environment and join this program to stop the Yellow Crazy Ants in their tracks.

Volunteers can take part in this adventure on the following dates - 13 to 29 July 2009 and the 14 to 30 September 2009.
