| Gladstone Square is located in the Port Augusta City Centre, on the corner of Jervois Street and Marryatt Street.

| Before the Great Western Bridge was built, ferry boats and barges were used to cross the Spencer Gulf. The only other way to get to the other side was by land, around the head of the Gulf, a distance of about 12 kilometres.
The Old Great Western Bridge opened in 1927 and was replaced by the existing bridge in 1972.

| On the eastern side of the old bridge are the remains of the Number Four Barge. It was brought from Port Pirie in 1944 to support workmen who were strengthening the bridge for the erection of the Morgan to Whyalla pipeline.
The barge was said to be built in Morgan in the 1880's for carting goods along the Murray.

| The Water Tower Lookout is surrounded by lovely gardens. This tower was built in 1882 to provide a pressure water supply for the residents of Port Augusta West. From the balcony at the top of this tower you can enjoy excellent views of the town, the Spencer Gulf, the Flinders Ranges and the outback. |
